1. What is the difference between NTUC Plus Card and Uplus Card? Uplus is the new name for NTUC Plus with effect from 26 September 2008. Existing NTUC Plus Principal and Supplementary Cardmembers (where applicable) need not change for the Uplus Card and can continue to use your existing NTUC Plus Cards until expiry or replacement with the Uplus Card, whichever is earlier. Existing NTUC Plus Principal and Supplementary Cardmembers (where applicable) will enjoy the same benefits and privileges as Uplus Cardmembers. However, please note that the new Uplus Card does not come with the ez-link card facility. If you have separately applied for and received your new Uplus Card, please remember to bring your NTUC Plus Card to the nearest TransitLink Ticket Office to obtain a refund of any residual value in the ez-link purse before cutting it up. 2. Can I have my old NTUC Plus Card back with the ez-link card facility? With effect from 26 September 2008, the Uplus Card will be issued in place of the NTUC Plus Card. If you have separately applied for the Uplus Card or you have been issued with a replacement Uplus Card, you will not be able to have your old NTUC Plus Card back.
3. I still have balance credit available in the ez-link purse of my old NTUC Plus Card. How can I get it back? You may bring your NTUC Plus Card to the nearest TransitLink Ticket Office to obtain a refund of any residual value in the ez-link purse before cutting it up. 4. I have activated the ez-link Auto Top-up function in my NTUC Plus Card, do I have to terminate this function? You do not need to terminate the Auto Top-up function. You can continue to use your NTUC Plus Card until expiry or replacement with the Uplus Card, whichever is earlier. Existing NTUC Plus Cardmembers enjoy the same benefits and privileges as Uplus Cardmembers.
5. Since I have applied and received the Uplus Card, what do I do with the NTUC Plus Card? For security purposes, you are advised to cut up your NTUC Plus Card upon receiving your Uplus Card. Please remember to bring your NTUC Plus Card to the nearest TransitLink Ticket Office to obtain a refund of any residual value in the ez-link purse before cutting it up. 6. Can I keep both the Uplus Card and the NTUC Plus Card? For security purposes, you are advised to cut up your NTUC Plus Card upon receiving your Uplus Card. Please remember to bring your NTUC Plus Card to the nearest TransitLink Ticket Office to obtain a refund of any residual value in the ez-link purse before cutting it up. 7. Since I already have the NTUC Plus Card, do I need to change for the Uplus Card? 8. Since I already have the NTUC Plus Card, why can’t OCBC just send me the Uplus Card? Why do I have to send in a Uplus application form in order to get the Uplus Card? Existing NTUC Plus Principal and Supplementary Cardmembers (where applicable) need not change for the Uplus Card and can continue to use the existing NTUC Plus Cards until expiry or replacement with the Uplus Card, whichever is earlier, following which the Uplus Card will be issued. Existing NTUC Plus Principal and Supplementary Cardmembers (where applicable) will enjoy the same benefits and privileges as Uplus Cardmembers. If you wish to receive your Uplus Card prior to the expiry or replacement of your NTUC Plus Card, please send in a Uplus application form.
9. What should I do when I had misplaced/lost my NTUC Plus Card or if my NTUC Plus Card is retained at the ATM? (a) You should contact OCBC’s 24-hour Contact Centre at 1800 363 3333. Upon report, you will not be liable for further VISA and NETS transactions on the card. OCBC will treat this similar to a ‘lost card’ situation and issue you another Uplus Card.

(b) If you had opted for EZ-Link Auto Top-up using your NTUC Plus Credit/Debit Card, you should also contact TransitLink Hotline at 1800-2255663 to report the loss. Operating hours are from 8 am to 6pm daily except public holidays. Outside of these hours, there will be a voicemail for you to leave a message with your name and contact number. Your report will only be locked in as of the time stamp of your recorded message. For further details on what to do, please visit www.ezlink.com.sg. Note that there are guidelines on your liabilities for such situations. If you did not opt for EZ-Link Auto Top-up, you will lose the remaining value and travel deposit on your ez-link purse.

10. What happens if someone uses my NTUC Plus Card without my permission? You should follow the same procedure as if you had misplaced or lost your NTUC Plus Card. Contact OCBC Bank, EZ-Link and NTUC Link immediately to report this.
11. What are the different features between the NTUC Plus Principal Card and the NTUC Plus Supplementary Card? The features of the supplementary card are similar to the principal card except that the supplementary card does not have an ez-link card facility, it is not linked to any savings account, and it is not recognized as a NTUC membership card.
12. What are the benefits/privileges of the NTUC Plus Supplementary Credit Card? Supplementary Cardmembers can also enjoy OCBC Privileges (such as OCBC Flavours), LinkPoints Gold, and earn LinkPoints^ when they shop at NTUC FairPrice, LinkPoints merchants, and at over 24 million VISA locations worldwide. It can also be used for redemption of LinkPoints at selected LinkPoints merchants. The supplementary card however cannot be used on public transport (no ez-link card facility). It cannot be used to withdraw money from a deposit account via ATM and cannot pay by NETS (no deposit account is linked to the card). The cardmember is not recognized as a NTUC member as only the principal cardmember is the union member.
^ All Linkpoints earned by the Supplementary Cardmember will be accumulated under the Principal Cardmember’s LinkPoints account.
13. Why is the NTUC Plus Supplementary Card not given a Starter Account and ez-link card facility? The full features of the NTUC Plus Card are currently available to NTUC Members only. Meanwhile, OCBC will monitor the feedback from NTUC Members.
14. Do I get my LinkPoints immediately when I shop at VISA merchants, or when my ez-link purse is topped up using my NTUC Plus Credit/Debit Card? Your LinkPoints earned will not be credited immediately at point of purchase. Your LinkPoints earned through your NTUC Plus Credit/Debit Card will be transferred to the Principal Cardmember’s LinkPoints account on your monthly statement cycle. You earn LinkPoints at the rate of 1 LinkPoint per S$2 charged to your NTUC Plus Credit/Debit Card.
15. Can I visit TransitLink or EZ-Link to terminate my NTUC Plus Card or NTUC-OCBC Starter Account? Please contact OCBC directly on this as TransitLink and EZ-Link do not provide banking and credit/debit card termination services.

16. Can I use the NTUC Plus Card’s ez-link card facility immediately after I have received the card? That is, can I use it for MRT and bus rides? To start using the ez-link card facility on your card, you will need to visit any TransitLink Ticket Office by paying an initial travel deposit of $3 and a minimum top-up value of $10. There is no need to pay for the usual $5 card cost for an ez-link card as the NTUC Plus Card comes with an ez-link purse.
17. Where are the TransitLink Ticket Offices and their operating hours? You can find the list of TransitLink Ticket Offices online at: www.transitlink.com.sg/services_tso.html
18. Is it compulsory to use the NTUC Plus Card’s ez-link card facility? It is not compulsory. However, if you do not pay the initial travel deposit of $3 and a minimum top-up value of $10 into the ez-link purse, you will not be able to use your NTUC Plus Card for ez-link transactions, including payment of fares for public transport. The ez-link purse on your NTUC Plus Card is one of the numerous functionalities you can enjoy with this card.
19. What does EZ-Link Auto Top-up do? The EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility allows your card to be automatically topped up via ez-link card readers at MRT stations and on public buses, with your pre-selected value when the stored value on your ez-link purse reaches zero or becomes negative.
20. How does the EZ-Link Auto Top-up work? You can opt for EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility using your NTUC Plus Credit/Debit card. For NTUC Plus Credit Cards, the EZ-Link Auto Top-up amount is debited from your credit card account. For NTUC Plus Debit Cards, the EZ-Link Auto Top-up amount is immediately debited from the deposit account linked to you Debit Card.

21. What are the advantages of applying for the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility? The EZ-Link Auto Top-up is a convenient way to continuously top up your NTUC Plus Card’s ez-link purse whenever it reaches zero or negative. Also, EZ-Link Auto Top-up transactions charged to your NTUC Plus Card earn you LinkPoints – for both NTUC Plus Credit/Debit Cards.
22. How do I sign up for and activate the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility on the ez-link purse for NTUC Plus Card? You can sign up for EZ-Link Auto Top-up* using your NTUC Plus Credit/Debit card at EZ-Link’s web site at www.ezlink.com.sg. To earn LinkPoints, be sure to charge the auto top-ups to the 16-digit card number as reflected on your NTUC Plus Card Upon submission of your application, you will receive the first email within 24 hours acknowledging that EZ-Link has received your application. Within 5 working days, a second email will be sent to you to inform you of the application status. Should your application be successful, you will receive a notification email which will include a collection slip number. You will also receive a letter from EZ-Link on your successful application status – this letter will also include the collection slip number. Please visit any TransitLink Ticket Office with either the notification email or letter, together with your NRIC and the NTUC Plus Card to activate the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility. A receipt will be given to you upon successful activation – please keep this receipt for reference. Please remember to activate the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility on your NTUC Plus Card within 6 months from the date of application or your application for the facility will be automatically terminated by EZ-Link.
23. Is it compulsory to apply for the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility? No, it is not compulsory. However, with the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility, you will no longer need to queue to top up the ez-link purse on your NTUC Plus Card. The ez-link purse on your NTUC Plus Card and the option to use the Auto Top-up Facility are some of the numerous functionalities you can enjoy with this card.
24. Can I insert my NTUC Plus Card into the General Ticketing Machines (GTM)? No. Please do not insert your NTUC Plus Card into the GTM Machine.
25. My NTUC Plus Card has been retained by the General Ticketing Machine (GTM) at a MRT station. What should I do? Please proceed to the nearest Passenger Service Centre within the MRT station to report the incident and seek assistance. If you could not retrieve your card back immediately, you should follow the same procedure as if you had misplaced or lost your NTUC Plus Card. Contact OCBC Bank, EZ-Link and NTUC Link immediately to report the loss of your card.  
26. Can I top up my ez-link purse at “Add Value Machine” at MRT stations Yes you could. You will need to have another ATM card after you place the NTUC Plus Card on the ez-link card reader.
27. My NTUC Plus Card was retained by the bus captain. What should I do? Should your card be retained by the bus captain, you will be issued a receipt (which has a contact number to TransitLink) by the bus captain. The card will be forwarded to TransitLink. –Please follow the instructions on the retention receipt to contact TransitLink for any refund. You should follow the same procedure as if you had misplaced or lost your NTUC Plus Card. Contact OCBC Bank, EZ-Link and NTUC Link immediately to report the loss of your card.  
28. I had used the ez-link purse on my NTUC Plus Card. Can I carry the NTUC Plus Card together with another ez-link card and other contactless cards (eg staff pass) in my wallet? You may carry more than one contactless card in your wallet. However, please ensure that you take out the relevant card from your wallet and tap it on the card reader. If you tap your whole wallet, an error message will be displayed.
29. After I have signed up for the EZ-Link Auto Top-up using the NTUC Plus Credit/Debit Card - can I still pay via ez-link at retail outlets with my NTUC Plus Card?   Yes you can use your NTUC Plus Card at selected merchants that accept ez-link card payments (except vending machines). Please visit www.ezlink.com.sg for more details.
30. Can I apply for top up via bank GIRO? Please refer to TransitLink. However, do note that such top up transactions do not earn LinkPoints.
31. What if I want to change the EZ-Link Auto Top-up amount? If you would like to change the amount, you need to de-activate the service by presenting your NRIC or Passport and NTUC Plus Card at any TransitLink Ticket Office. Please wait for at least 4 working days for the status of your ez-link purse to be updated before re-applying for the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility again at www.ezlink.com.sg.
32. Besides EZ-Link Auto Top-up, where can I top up using cash? You can top up through the following means by cash:
  • TransitLink Ticket Office
  • Passenger Service Centre
  • 7-eleven
33. Where can I get a refund of my ez-link purse? You can get the refund at any TransitLink Ticket Office. If you did not sign up for the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility, you will get the refund immediately in cash if your ez-link purse can be read. If you had signed up for the EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility, the refund value will be credited back to your credit/debit card account. Please note that the NTUC Plus Card will be cut up and retained upon refund. Once refunded, the ez-link purse cannot be re-activate. Please call OCBC at 1800 363 3333 if you wish to get a replacement Uplus Card.
34. Can I get a refund on my ez-link purse without having my NTUC Plus Card cut into half? No. If you want a refund of the stored value on the ez-link purse, the deposit of S$3 will also be refunded. Once refunded, the ez-link purse cannot be re-activated and the card will be cut up and retained.
35. Can I get a refund on my ez-link purse but carry on using the NTUC Plus Card? No, you cannot. If you want a refund of the stored value on the ez-link purse, the deposit of S$3 will also be refunded. Once refunded, the ez-link purse cannot be re-activated and the card will be cut up and retained. If you need a new NTUC Plus Card, you will have to request for a replacement card from OCBC. Please note that replacement card charges apply.
36. Can I get a partial refund of my ez-link purse? No, you cannot. It is either no refund or full refund, including the S$3 deposit. When a refund is requested, the ez-link purse will be fully refunded. Once refunded, the ez-link purse cannot be re-activated and the card will be cut up and retained.
37. What is my liability if I had misplace/lost my NTUC Plus Card or if my NTUC Plus Card is retained at the ATM? (a) If your Card is lost or stolen, please call OCBC immediately at 1800 363 3333 (available 24 hours daily). You will not be liable for any fraudulent credit/debit transactions on your Card after you have reported the loss to OCBC.

(b) For the ez-link purse, if you had opted for EZ-Link Auto Credit Card Top-up Facility using your NTUC Plus Credit/Debit Card, you should also contact TransitLink Hotline at 1800-2255663 to report the loss. For further details on what to do, please visit www.ezlink.com.sg. Note that there are guidelines on your liabilities for such situations.

If you did not opt for EZ-Link Auto Top-up Facility, you will lose the remaining value and travel deposit on your ez-link purse.

(c) You should also contact NTUC Link at 6213 8008 to block your Card as it could be used for LinkPoints redemption.

38. Is there an expiry date for the ez-link purse on the NTUC Plus card? The ez-link purse on the NTUC Plus Card expires together with the expiry date of the NTUC Plus Card which is the date reflected on the Card.

1. Will my NTUC Plus card be terminated/or will it expire prematurely?

No. All NTUC Plus card benefits and privileges remain unchanged except expiry of the Ez-Link purse on 30 September 2009. You may continue to use your NTUC Plus card for payment, LinkPoints and FairPrice rebate till card expiry date. Your NTUC Plus card will be automatically renewed upon card expiry and a new U Plus card will be mailed to you.

How does this change in LTA’s payment system or launch of new Ez-Link card affect me as a cardholder?

  • If you have activated the Ez-Link purse on your NTUC Plus card, we will be pleased to replace the card with a new Uplus card. Upon receiving your new Uplus card, you may proceed to any TransitLink Ticket Office to obtain a refund. You have up to 12 years from date of card issuance to perform your Ez-Link refund and your NTUC Plus card will be destroyed upon completion of the refund.

    If you chose not to proceed with the Ez-Link refund, no action is required. The Ez-Link purse is a stand alone functionality and has no impact on your NTUC Plus as a payment card, Link card or ability to earn FairPrice rebates.

  • If you have not activated your Ez-Link purse, no action is required and you may continue to use your NTUC Plus card till card expiry.
3. Do I have to pay a fee for my new Uplus card?

No. The bank has arranged for the $10 card replacement fee to be waived in appreciation of your patronage.

4. When will I receive my new Uplus card?

Your new Uplus card will be mailed to you within 2 weeks from submission of your phone-in/written request to the bank.

What is this whole exercise about?

LTA has launched a new e-payment system (SeP1) which accepts only CEPAS2 compliant payment cards / Ez-Link cards. Hence, all existing Ez-Link cards and Ez-Link purse embedded in the NTUC Plus cards will lose their functionality on 30 Sep 2009 as LTA phase out their old system (EIFA3).

6. Am I eligible for a free one-for-one Ez-Link card replacement with my NTUC Plus card?

No. As a NTUC Plus cardholder, you have enjoyed free access of the Ez-Link purse without incurring the usual $5 Ez-Link card cost. However, the new Uplus card does not carry an Ez-Link purse and you will need to purchase the new Ez-Link card.

7. Why don’t you have the Ez-Link purse on the Uplus card? We may consider the new Ez-Link purse at a later date but it is currently not available on Uplus. Please be assured that the bank conducts regular review of its product to achieve competitiveness and we stay committed to our customers and the community we serve. 8. Where can I obtain my refund on my NTUC Plus Ez-Link purse? You may proceed to any TransitLink Ticket Office located at selected MRT stations island wide. You have up to 12 years from date of card issuance to perform your Ez-Link purse refund.

9. I signed up for the Ez-Link Auto Top Up facility, how do I cancel it? What if I want a refund?

To deactivate your Ez-Link Auto Top Up facility, simply present your NRIC/Passport and NTUC Plus card at any TransitLink Ticket Office.

If you have activated your Ez-Link Auto Top Up facility and wish to perform a refund on your Ez-Link purse, it will take about 3 to 4 weeks for the refund amount to be credited to your NTUC Plus card account. Should the refund be unsuccessful due to card account closure, Ez-Link will arrange for a Cheque refund via mail.
