To meet the needs of members, U Family has collaborated with the NTUC's social enterprises to bring more family-focused benefits. These include:
- NTUC Income: a promotional period (between May to Sep 2009) of free insurance upgrade from CPF Medishield to Enhanced Incomeshield Basic Plan for children of union members.
- NTUC FairPrice: various lifestyle workshops for U Family members. For example, DIY Aesthetics Workshops were held for 10 unions, starting in April 2009. Many more workshops were held regularly on weekends.
- NTUC Club: provided strong support to the Family Day Out with U on 30 May 2009 and featured Little U Emcees as roving reporters during the May Day celebrations.
- Orchid Country Club: educational camps for children during school holidays.
Outreach and Engagement
U Family has adopted a 3 SRs approach - Strong Relationships, Social Resilience and Self Reliance - to help workers strengthen the family unit.
Strong Relationships
Activities such as 'Pak Tor with U', 'U Family @ Play' and 'U Family Classroom' were carried out to achieve the aims.
For instance, 'Pak Tor with U' programmes aim at keeping the sparks alive in marriages. U Family will also continue to organise signature Family @ Play events targeting parents to spend time with their family.
