Recognising the importance of instilling a sense of social responsibility among youths, nEbO’s Care Community has been promoting the spirit of volunteerism since it started in July 2007. The Care Community is one of nEbO’s six communities that engage youths by catering to their interests. The other five are Music & Events, Sports, Gaming, Lifestyle and Entrepreneurship.
To Do Good for society, nEbOians have been volunteering their time to help needy families, children with special needs or disabilities and the elderly. Distributing food rations, organising learning journeys for children and providing free tuition services are just some of the ways in which nEbO has given back to society. Not forgetting to Do Together with others to achieve synergy, nEbO has also been working with the unions, non-profit organisations and tertiary institutions to best serve the community.
For the festive season in December 2010, nEbO brought smiles to the faces of children while engaging youths through two events - nEbO’s W.I.S.H. (Ways In Sharing Happiness) and Junior Kidz Day Out.
Supported by the Union of Telecoms Employees of Singapore and SingPost, nEbO’s W.I.S.H. benefited children at Kit4Kids, a school for disadvantaged children with special needs. Sixty volunteers distributed handmade Christmas gifts and specially-designed Christmas cards to the children.
With postage stamps sponsored by SingPost, the children also mailed out their own uniquely-decorated Christmas cards to their friends and relatives.
On 27 December 2010, eighty youths from Temasek Polytechnic and nEbO brought the children from ABC Children’s Place on an interactive multimedia tour inside the Marina Barrage’s ‘Sustainable Singapore’ gallery. The children also got a chance to decorate their own kites and fly them on the green roof of the Marina Barrage.
